GEOGRAPHY

At Urchfont, through our geography curriculum children develop their knowledge of places and environments, an understanding of maps and develop a range of investigational and problem solving skills.  We teach children the appropriate language associated with maps and how to use them correctly. Children study their local environment and gradually study places in the United Kingdom, Europe and the worldwide. Children look at manmade development, environmental factors and natural features of the landscape compare it to that of other counties and other countries.  When appropriate we study the causes of natural disasters and the effects they have on the landscape, people and animals. They learn about environmental issues and their rights and responsibilities to other people and the natural world.
